Eat a good breakfast. Drink plenty of water. Get enough sleep.
These are all phrases we have heard from time to time when it comes to taking on the day and being the best version of ourselves. But have you ever considered how very important caring for your body can be in fueling your mind? Our mind-body connections are powerful!
Mind-Body Connection Tips
There’s a reason why schools have recess. Educators know that learners need to stay active to keep alert and engaged. This may look a bit different as we age, but the importance remains the same. If you are looking for new ways to have a stronger mind-body connection, here are a few quick tips.
Take active breaks from work or study. A quick walk, even some jumping jacks can wake you up and shake out those mental cobwebs. You will return to your efforts energized and ready to take on the next challenge.
Consider your posture. Slumping down in your chair or sitting too close to a computer screen can put a strain on your body and vision. Both can cause additional health issues and a lack of concentration. Choose comfortable workspaces when possible.
Write it down. Journaling your thoughts, feelings, dreams, and goals can be a calming and inspiring exercise. This can be done in a pen-to-paper format or a quick note in your phone. The point is to stop and take in the moment, noting its importance.
Breathe. Don’t underestimate the power of a short, intentional time to settle and focus on your breathing. This can ease stress and help you to refocus your energy. Extra points for taking in the beauty of nature while doing your exercises!
In short, adults need recess too! Use your natural mind-body connection to the fullest. It can make for better, more efficient, and faster learning. Give it a try!
